How to be Honoured by God

a) HONOUR

         Let us examine the scriptures below:

  1. Proverbs 25:2 it is the glory of God to conceal a thing; but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
  2. John 12:26 if any man serve me, him will my Father honour
  3. 1 Timothy 5:17  let the elders that rule well be  counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine

(b)        WHAT IS HONOUR ?

  1. II Sam. 6:20,22

How glorious was the King of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! V22. and I will yet be more vile than thus (I will play before LORD) of them shall I be had in honour

 

                  Honour speaks of:

  1. Clothing: - fully covered, those who walk half naked with open chests, open thighs are always deceived  by the demons of lust in order to bring shame to their lives. Shame is a spirit who is against prosperity!
  2. Actions: - not as a vain fellow
  3. Who is watching: - they can speak honour or shame to you and words are powerful, they can kill or make alive.

II Esther 6:6

So  Haman came in and the king said unto him, what shall be done unto the man who the king delighteth to honour ?

V8 let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear; and the horse, which the king rideth upon, and the crown royal, which is set upon his head.

V9. And let this apparel and hose be delivered to the hand of one of the kings most noble prices, that they may array the man withal whom the King delighteth to honour and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

V10. … take the apparel .. and the horse … do even so to Mordecai the Jew.

 

Honour Speaks of:

  1. The best Kingly clothing
  2. Being carried by best horse ( a good car) not walking
  3. Having a royal crown on the head
  4. Proclamation of favour before all people

 

(iii) Psalms 8:5

for thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

V6. though madest him  to have dominion over the works of thy hands; though hast put all things under his feet.

 

Honour speaks of:

Dominion – power and authority.

 

iv) Psalms 21:1 – 2

The King shall joy in thy strength O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice.

V2 thou hast given Him his hearts desire and hast not with holden the request of his lips. For thou preventest him with the blessing of goodness. Thou settest a crown  of pure gold on his head. He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him even length of days for ever and ever.

His glory is great in thy salvation, honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him, for thou hast made Him most blessed for ever, thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy counterance.

For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most high he shall not be moved. Thine hand shall find all thine enemies

Honour  speaks of:

  1. A joyours living
  2. A  satisfied life
  3. A life of full of blessings of goodness
  4. A crown of pure gold.
  5. Long good life
  6. Majesty: not moved security
  7. A victorious life.

 

(v)  Proverbs 12;9

He that is despised and hath a servant is better than he that honoureth  himself and lacketh  bread.

What is honour?

  1. Having servants
  2. Having no lack of food, God does not honour parents whose families lack food due to pride.

(iv) Proverbs 14;28  In the multitude of people is the kings honour; but in the want of the people is the destruction of the prince

Honour speak of;

(i)       Multitude of people to speak to;

 

(vii)             Jeremiah 33.8

              And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity whereby they have sinned against me and I will pardon all their iniquity.

V9. And it shall be to me a name of Joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them; and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it

What is honour?

1)       A clean sinless life.

2)       Freedom from oppressors.  (v7)

3)       Freedom from sickness  (v6)

4)       Presence of peace  (v6)

5)       Presence of truth  (v6)

6)       Prosperity (v9)

 

(viii)           Acts 28:10. 

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was publius, who received us and lodged us three days courteously. And it came to pass that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and a bloody flux to whom pall entered in and prayed and laid his hands on him and healed him. So when this was done, others also which had diseases in the island, came and were healed. Who also honored us with many honours, and when we departed they laded us with such things as were necessary.

 

                Honour means:

  1. Many possessions even to lodge and feed others.
  2. Paul a man of honour brought the honour of healing to the island.

ix) Rev. 19:7 

Alleluia, for the Lord God omnipotent, let us be glad and rejoice and give honour to Him for the marriage of the lamb is come and His wife hath made herself ready.

Heb. 13:4

Marriage is honourable in all and the bed undefiled but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

What is honour?

  1. A ready bridegroom, ability, prosperity, age.
  2. A ready bride e.g. in purity, age, character
  3. A marriage based on covenant relationship.

x) Luke 14:8

When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit down not in the highest room, lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him.

V9… give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

Friend go up higher; then shall thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

V10. for whatsoever exalteth himself shall be abased and he  that honoureth himself shall be exalted.

Honour means:

  1. Capacity to be invited
  2. Implies worship
    1. Means exaltation.
    2. The opposite is shame.

xi) Acts 13: 50

But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women and the chief men of the city and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas and expelled them out of their coasts.

Honour means:

Influence and recognition.

 xii) Judges 13: 17 

And Manoah said unto  the  angel of the LORD,  what is thy name, that when thy saying come to pass we may do thee honour.

Honour means:

Dominion: The ability to speak words and they come to pass.

 

xiii) I Sam 15:30

Then he said, I have sinned yet honour me now, I pray thee before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me; that I may worship the LORD thy God.

Honour means:

Recognition especially before elders.

 ixx) Psalms 149:9

This honour have all His saints

v6 let the high praise of God be in  their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand

v7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen

v8 to bind their kings with chain, and their nobles with fetters of Iron.

Honour means:

Ability to bind devils using the name of Jesus, Dominion

 xx) John 8:49

Jesus answered, I have not a devil but I honour my father and ye do dishonour me.

Honour means:

Not being abused

xxi) Proverbs 14: 31

He that oppreseth the poor reproaches His maker but he that honoureth Him hath mercy on the poor.

 Honour is:

To have mercy on the poor

 

What is HONOUR:

  • Glorious, magnificient, goodly
  • Beauty and excellency

 

Means: to prize, To fix valuation upon, To revere, To value, Esteem to the highest degree, Dignity, Precious, Beloved, Dear, Had in reputation, Expensiveness, Magnificence, Costliness.

 

 

THE SOURCE OF HONOUR

a) I Kings 3:13, 2 Chro. 1:11

Solomon asked for…

V9. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people that I may discern between good and bad.

V13. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches and honour: so that there shall not be any among the Kings like unto thee all thy days.

II Chron. 1:12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee and I will give thee riches, and wealth and honour.

  1. God Himself
  2. Wisdom and Knowledge of a person attracts honour.

 

b) 1 Chron. 16:27, Ps. 96:6

Glory and honour are in His presence; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

c) 1 Chron. 29:12

both riches and honour come of thee and thou reignest over all: and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.

d) Psalms 15:4

e) Psalms 26: 8

LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

g) Psalms 104: 1 

Bless the LORD, O my soul, O LORD my God, thou art very great, thou art Clothed with honour and majesty.

V2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment (that puts God in His own class) who stretchest out the heaven like a curtain.

V3. Who layeth the beams of  His chambers in the waters, who maketh the clouds His  chariots.

V4. Who maketh His angels spirits,, His ministers a flaming fire.

V5. Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

V12. By them (Valleys) shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.

V21. The young lions roar after their prey and seek their meat from God.

V27. These wait all upon thee that thou majest give them their meat in due season.

V33. I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live, I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

 

The Honour of God.

  1. Clothing:                                       of light
  2. Ability:                                           stretchest the heavens
  3. Vehicle:                                         clouds are His Chariots
  4. Guards:                                          Spirits (not hindered)
  5. Servants:                                       Not touched (flames)
  6. Not moved:  Majesty
  7. Receives songs:                            Praise /Worship
  8. All wait upon Him:                      And satisfiest their desires

 

h)       Proverbs 26:1

As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.

Honour the LORD with thy substance and with the firs fruit of all thine increase, so shall thy barns be filled with plenty and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

  • By giving Him the priority in your substance, increase

By the Holy Ghost.

 

 

HOW TO OBTAIN HONOUR

 

  1. 1.       Proverbs 4: 8

                    Exalt her, and she  shall promote thee she shall bring thee to honour when thou dost embrace her.

            V9. She shall give to thine  head an ornament  of grace, a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

          How to obtain honour.

a)       By embracing God’s word.

b)       By exalting the word of God.

 

  1. 2.       Proverbs 13:18

       Property and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction; but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

  1. Regard reproof
  2. Accept instruction

 

  1. 3.       Proverbs 15:33

      The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

          How to obtain honour

                                Be humble so that you can be instructed.

  1. 4.       Proverbs 20:3 .

          It is an honour for a man to cease from strife, but every fool will be meddling.

Cease from strife, unnecessary debates will always degrade your status of honour

                By humility and the fear of  the LORD are riches and honour and life.

  1. 6.       Daniel 2:6.

       But if ye show the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour.

  1. 7.       Rom. 2:7

        To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.

V8 But  unto that are  contentious and do not obey the truth, but  obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil of the Jew first and also of the Gentile.

V10 But glory, honour and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first and also to the Gentile .

For there is no respect of persons with God.

How to obtain Honour

By seeking it from God

  1. 8.       2 Tim. 2:20.

 But in a great  house there are not only vessels  of Gold and of  silver, but also  of wood and earth and some to honour and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and  meet for the masters use, and prepared unto every good work.

                          How to obtain honour.

                By personally deciding  to purge myself and deciding or purposing to live a holy life.

 

  1. 9.       Hebrews 3:2

Who was faithful to Him, as also Moses was faithful in all His house, for this man was counted worthy of more glory than        Moses in as much as He who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

 

How to obtain Honour

By being faithful to the one who appoints you.

 

  1. 10.    Heb5:4.

        And no man taketh this honour ( of being ordained a priest) unto himself but he that is called  of God as was Aaron.

V5. So also Christ glorified not Himself to be made a High Priest

… v7 who offering prayers and supplications  with strong crying and tears unto Him that was able to save  Him and was heard in that He feared.

How to obtain Priestly Honour.

a)       Through much extraordinary prayers

b)       Having a deep regard to the fear of God.

c)       Learning the secrets of obedience

 

  1. 11.    1 Peter 1:7

That the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perisheth though it be tried with fire, might be found             unto praise and honour and glory at the appearance of Jesus Christ.

 

 

                        How to obtain the Faith of Honour.

                By allowing God to pass you through the fires without giving Him a deadline

 

  1. Deut 26:19

And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made in praise and in name and honour, and that thou mayest be an        holy people unto the lord thy God as He hath spoken .

                        How to obtain honour

Tithe according to his direction, as from V1 of Deut 26. This is the only way God will honour your tithing programs.

 

  1. 13.    Proverbs 21:21

       He that follow eth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness and honour.

                          How to obtain honour

                                1) Pursue righteousness daily

                                2) Pursue mercy daily

                                3) Pursue righteousness and mercy daily.

:. Righteousness +mercy =life +righteousness +honour.

 

  RELATIONSHIPS OF HONOUR

 

  1. Rom. 12:10

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love: in honour preferring one another.

Prefer the other one better than yourself.

 

  1. Rom. 13:7

Render therefore to all their due; tribute to whom tribute is due: custom to whom custom: fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour.

To whom it is due : masters, wife , husband ,king, God e.t.c

Romans 13:8 Owe no man anything but to one another (pay the honour).

 1 Cor. 12:23

And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable upon these we  bestow more abundant honour and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

V22. Nay, much more those members of the body which seen to be  more feeble, are necessary.

His work is honourable and glorious and His righteousness endureth for ever.

 1 Thess. 4:4

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification that ye should abstain from fornication. That every one of you should know how to posses his vessel in sanctification and honour.

Not in the lust of concupiscence even as Gentiles which know not God.

To our bodies, by obtaining from fornication. Those who commit fornication or adultery bring shame to their bodies not honour.

 Numbers 22:17.

(From Balak to Balaam) I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me came therefore for I will promote thee unto very great honour.

To other men, it is short-lived and deceitful

 1 Sam. 2:29

And honourest thy sons (ELI’S) above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people.

To people: can be dangerous to your God given task.

 Proverbs 26:8

As he that bindeth a stone in a sling so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

Don’t lose your honour by giving to a fool, you will lose it completely.

  1. Eccl 10:1

Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking saviour, so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

THE ULTIMATE END OF HONOUR.

1)       David:

        1 Chron. 29:28

        And (David) he died in a good old age, full of days, riches and honour and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.

 2)       Jehosphaphat

        II Chronicles 18:1.

        Now Jehosphaphat had riches and honour in abundance and joined affinity with Ahab.

 3)       Revelation 21:24.

And the city… And the nations of them which are saved  shall walk in the light of it, and the Kings of earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

Ultimate: We are to all of us Finish And Eventually Dwell in Honour. This is the design of God.

 

 

 

 

Did you Know ?

  1. If you say that the Lord Jesus died on Friday and rose up on Sunday morning, that does not amount to three nights and three days ? So when did Christ die ?
  2. Did you know that when the word “GOD” or “LORD” it means Jehovah or Yahweh which shows the attributes of His Love, Faithfulness, Compassion, Slow to anger, Abundant in  truth, Forgiving and His grace. ( Seven attributes)    When the name is written as “God” it shows Him in His creative power as Elohim. This shows His attributes in Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresent, eternal, Infinite, Spirit, Self existence. (Seven attributes)

And when you see the word “Lord”  in the Bible it shows His name  “Adonai” which speaks of His Lordship.
