The Great Sufferings of Christ

THE GREAT SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST

The following is a list which shows, the unbearable human humiliations which the Son of God suffered for us as He paid the penalty for our sins.  The holy prophets predicted that Christ should suffer the same. Christ knew about it. It was so much for Him to the extent that He almost gave up the task. But because it was the will of the Father for Him to die for us He said “ Never the less not my will but yours be done”

Listen to what the prophets said,

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair. I hid not my face from shame and spitting.   (Isaiah 50:6).

And straightway in the morning the chief priest held a consultation within the elders and scribes and the whole and bound Jesus and carried Him away and delivered Him to Pilate. (Mark 15:1)

 L. Jesus was acquitted but the people still condemned Him.

Pilate said… I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see thou to it. (Matt 27:15-26).

  3. He was ashamed so that we can have honour.
  4. His crown of thorns were to break all the curses of the fall.
  5. His hunger and thirst were to eliminate poverty and famine
  6. He was rejected by God so that we can be accepted by God..

7. He was unclothed so that we can be clothed by the righteousness of God
